Bernard Choongo – Principal Transport Engineer 

Bernard is the Principal Transport Engineer at Abacus Parking Consultants (APC). Bernard holds a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Queensland and a Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering from the University of New South Wales.

With over 37 years of professional experience in traffic engineering and transport planning, Bernard has worked across multiple jurisdictions including Australia, Southern Africa, and the Middle East. His diverse portfolio includes senior roles in both the private and public sectors, with a career spanning state government agencies, municipal authorities, and multidisciplinary engineering consultancies.

Over the course of his career, Bernard has authored and peer-reviewed numerous Traffic Impact Assessments for a broad range of development types from commercial precincts and mixed-use centres to state-significant infrastructure projects bringing a nuanced understanding of transport policy, modelling, and regulatory requirements to each assignment.
